John C. Kim's Birthday

One project was decorating cakes for Master Kim’s birthday party. The School usually ordered decorated cakes with tigers made of icing, but they always looked weird or funny. So Assistant instructors took over the cake decorating. They would normally make a cake for each School, and one for the birthday party. Usually, they would be up for a couple days getting all the supplies needed to decorate the cakes, then stay up all night until the last cake was finished.
Each student was expected to give Master Kim a cash birthday gift - as much as each could afford, but it had to be at least $100. They were told the money was not for Master Kim; the money was for their future.
The story about John C. Kim’s birthday is told in Episode 5. Click on the picture of above to be directed to episode 5.

Chung Moo Quan I.D. Card
The Chung Moo Quan I.D. Card.
It stated that a students rank was registered with the Asian Chung Moo Quan Headquarters and was signed by Master John C. Kim himself. But in truth, the I.D. card was nothing more than another prop to perpetuate the belief in The Asian Chung Moo Quan Headquarters. This place where Russell Johnson believed his rank was registered did not exist.
New I.D. Card

In Reporter Pam Zekman’s 1989 Report Chung Moo Quan the Cult and the Con she asked an Instructor who was also an attorney for the schools about the I.D. Card.
Zekman also showed the attorney I.D. cards for advanced students that say their rank is registered with the "Chung Moo Quan organization. Asian Headquarters." He admitted there is no such organization.
Zekman: ‘It doesn't exist?”
Attorney: “Not that I am aware of.”
Zekman: “Is that a good idea legally, to be giving out these cards, if there is no such organization?”
Attorney: “I will say this, Pam. You have brought it to my attention, and I'm going to look into it, and I'm going to review it, and if I feel some changes are necessary, I will make those changes.”
After the news report students I.D. Cards stating that their ranks was registered to the non-existent Asian Chung Moo Quan Headquarters were rounded up and collected. They were replaced with new I.D. Cards which now said their rank was registered in the United States. Students that were unaware of the new reports were not told that the Asian Headquarters did not exist but that the school in the Untied State had broken from them. The pictures on the I.D. Card are the before and after the news reports.
